What is the Alcian Blue PAS Stain Kit? This stain kit is used for the staining of sulphated and carboxylated acid mucopolysaccharides, and for carbohydrate radicles (e.g. glycogen). The alcian blue and PAS technique combines to differentiate neutral mucins from acidic mucins. It is used as a broad spectrum stain for mucins, a lack of staining with the combined PAS stage indicates the substance is not mucin.
